How to claim space and trigger discussions
By Christian Nold • Jul 7th, 2008 • Category: Meta DesignThis art project by Alex Clausen is a good example of how one can make issues visible in a specific place. Imagine if all the local places had flag poles in front of them which indicated their ownership or even people’s opinions about the place. How would we relate differently to places? What is it about this improvised flag that is different from a government sign? Are there other performative interventions we can create that make people look again at their local areas?

I love flags :}
Twice I saw beautiful stencils:
First one in Prague on the pavement: “Here I was robbed at 25.3.2003″
second ones were inside one freaky skypescaker in Petrzalka {”ghetto part” of Bratislava}. They were sprayed at the entrance of the buiding and on the doors of elevator on specific floors saying: “here you can buy heroin”. very nice self defence of the people who suffer.
